Functional properties of the dietary supplement Cyclophyt® are determined by the plant components it contains, which may have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, hormone-regulating, and antiproliferative effects.
The mechanism of action of flavonoids found in plant extracts involves competitive interaction with estrogen or androgen receptors in the presence of an excess of endogenous estrogens or androgens. They may also inhibit aromatase activity – the key enzyme responsible for converting male sex hormones into female ones. In addition, they may normalize the ratio of estradiol to progesterone and help reduce prolactin levels, thereby increasing progesterone levels.
The biologically active components of the plant extracts contained in Cyclophyt® may enhance the function of the undamaged part of the ovary and contribute to the softening of the cyst capsule in case of cystic lesions. They may also prevent the development of dysplastic processes in glandular tissue, stromal elements of the mammary glands, ovaries, and uterus.
Chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus) fruit extract may relieve premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms (in case of luteal insufficiency) and menopausal symptoms. Due to its dopaminergic effect, chaste tree is used for swelling and discomfort in the mammary glands.
Chinese angelica (Angelica sinensis) root extract is considered a general tonic for blood and may be used by women for health issues such as menstrual cramps and regulation of the menstrual cycle. The extract is also characterized by anticoagulant and antiplatelet activities and promotes hematopoiesis, immune support, and uterine toning.
Meadowsweet (Filipendula vulgaris) root extract may have antispasmodic and astringent effects. In gastrointestinal disorders, it may have wound-healing, hemostatic, diaphoretic, and diuretic activities. Due to the presence of salicylic glycoside, it may exert anti-inflammatory effects, helping relieve discomfort in cases of uterine inflammation, changes in breast tissue, bleeding, and postpartum complications.
Fresh curly parsley (Petroselinum crispum) root extract contains carotene, luteolin, apigenin, and ascorbic acid. Thanks to parsley’s diuretic and antispasmodic properties, it can be used as a diuretic and diaphoretic agent for disorders of the urinary system.
Fresh fragrant celery (Apium graveolens) root extract can be used as an antispasmodic, diuretic, sedative, and stimulant. Celery is known as a urinary antiseptic and may exhibit antifungal activity against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus album, Shigella dysenteries, and Salmonella typhi. It can be used for discomfort during menstruation and cycle irregularities.
Yellow bedstraw (Galium verum) herb extract contains glycoside, asperuloside, ascorbic acid, and pigment compounds. Yellow bedstraw may help relieve discomfort and reduce inflammation, as well as provide diuretic, hemostatic, wound-healing, and sedative effects.
Marigold (Calendula officinalis) flower extract may have anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, hypotensive, sedative, and cardiotonic effects. The bactericidal properties of marigold are notably effective against several pathogens, particularly staphylococci and streptococci. In gynecology, it is prescribed for inflammatory processes and menstrual disorders.
