The functional properties of the dietary supplement Eupatilex™ are determined by its active component. Extract of Artemisia argyi leaves (Artemisia argyi): A standardized extract of eastern wormwood leaves, native to East Asia (Korea, Japan), widely used in traditional Asian culture. The extract primarily acts through the flavonoids it contains, which activate protective factors of the gastric mucosa (stimulating protein synthesis and improving local blood supply). This enhances the regeneration of damaged cells and the epithelial layer of the stomach lining.
The extract protects the gastric mucosa from various potentially harmful factors, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), alcohol, stress, and Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Protection of the gastric and duodenal mucosa against NSAIDs is achieved by increasing the release of endogenous prostaglandin E2 and reducing the production of prostaglandin F1α. The extract’s antioxidant properties mitigate the negative effects of Helicobacter pylori by preventing lipid peroxidation. By regulating superoxide dismutase levels, malondialdehyde, and inflammatory factors, it protects against alcohol-induced damage. Additionally, the biological components of eastern wormwood stimulate mucocyte secretion of mucin, one of the main gastric protective factors, without affecting gastric acidity (an important consideration when using drugs with acid-dependent release).
For use in cases of gastric mucosal damage (erosion, hemorrhage, hyperemia, edema) in acute and chronic gastritis, including cases caused by Helicobacter pylori (when co-administered with medications used for Helicobacter pylori eradication), only upon a doctor's recommendation.
Recommendations for use: As a dietary supplement to the diet as an additional source of flavonoids with general strengthening effects on the functional state of the gastrointestinal tract.
