The main active ingredient of Masticosin is Chios mastic, a natural product obtained from the mastic tree Pistacia lentiscus, which grows on the Greek island of Chios, in the northern part of the Aegean Sea. The beneficial properties of mastic for the health of the gastrointestinal tract have been known since ancient times in Greece. Each Masticosin capsule contains 350 mg of Chios mastic.
The main effect of Masticosin is its antibacterial effect on H. pylori.
Masticosin works in two key ways:
- Creates a protective barrier on the gastric mucosa, making it difficult for H. pylori to penetrate.
- Triterpenic acids in Masticosin cause morphological changes in H. pylori cells and destroy their structure, contributing to more effective eradication of the bacterium.
The evidence base supports the effectiveness of Chios mastic: a clinical trial showed that the combined use of Chios mastic and standard antibacterial therapy resulted in a higher rate of H. pylori eradication compared to patients treated with antibiotics alone. An important fact is that unlike antibiotics, the bacterium did not develop resistance to Chios mastic.
Adults and children over 12 years of age can take Masticosin 💊 1 capsule 2-3 times a day 20-30 minutes before meals. The course of application is 10-14 days. Further use and the possibility of a repeat course are recommended to be agreed with the doctor.
